Earlier this month, our team was stoked to be nominated for the Communications Day (CommsDay) Edison Awards for our network, Norfone and our collaboration on Ascension Island's newest network, Ascension Island Mobile.

Building a network in under 3 months is no easy feat, and that's before you deploy it on one of the world's most remote islands. AIM was our most logistically challenging build yet; from filling a Royal Air Force C-17 Globemaster Cargo aircraft with RAN equipment, to prioritising SIM cards and payphones over clothes in the team's carry-on baggage. The launch of the network was a massive effort, and we are so proud to have been a part of bringing it to the Ascension community.

As a finalist for the best private/local mobile network initiative or partnership, we are still reeling to have our little networks be the talk of big events. A huge thanks to Commsday for the nomination, and to Nokia for helping us to build networks with the best equipment.
